The Cracking Resistance Behavior of Geosynthetics-Reinforced Asphalt Concrete under Lower Temperatures Using Bending Test

Asphalt is a kind of temperature-sensitive material. With the decrease temperature, deformation capacity an asphalt mixture will be significantly reduced. When temperature greatly reduced, layer produce large shrinkage tensile stress and strain, resulting in cracking. Therefore, cracking resistance behavior essential for asphalt. In order to study geosynthetics-reinforced under lower temperatures, bending tests were carried out indoors at −10 °C. The results showed that compared with unreinforced sample, flexural strength failure geogrid-reinforced sample was increased by 14.1% 12.3%, corresponding AC-13C AC-20C. Additionally, geotextile-reinforced reduced 2.5% 3.6%, values stiffness modulus geogrid- samples 6% 1%. energy provides 45.2% 30.8% more than asphalt, 4.5% 0.6% better shows obvious brittleness °C, existence geosynthetics does not change shape load–deflection curves.
